
I came across an interesting video while reading
Vista News. I didn't validate
this video but it's interesting if true. Brendan Gregg, who works at Sun Microsystems, found that if you yell directly at a spinning hard drive it's latency will increase about 500ms. Yes, I know, that is trivial but his point is that sound causes vibration and it's crucial to keep it to a minimum. If nothing else, it reminds me of the times I wanted to yell at (insert server name) ____________.
