Electron Beam Friggin' Freeform Fabrication

Yeah, fools. That's what I said. What could be cooler than some electrons, metal and some technology that could take us into the Star Trek era? Thanks to Rick, I got to read an article where NASA engineers are working on a device that can construct objects from wire stock much like a wire-feed welder but way cooler. Get this... it works in zero gravity! Dr. Evil should have ordered one of these things to help carry out his evil plots. I can already foresee it making, shall we say, adult products for that long ride on the generation ship.

Here's an informative clip to help you understand this technology...

Video Commentary:
1. Notice the "No Kill Club" sticker on the side of the device. Makes me wonder if they have a Kill Club version that produces robots for Skynet.
2. NASA's high tech computers appear to run Windows95.
3. Guys must be required to have fascinating beards or long rock star hair at NASA.
4. EBF3 v2.0 needs plasma & lasers.
5. New space suits apparently have iPhone on the arm (or perhaps a Droid). I wonder what AT&T's (or Verizon's) 3G coverage is on the moon.
