Well, they did it. Government Motors brought back the Chevy Caprice and it's for law enforcement only. I still think it's a dumb move. That said, they're all in with a not so G8 setup that actually uses the frame from the nixed Pontiac G8 "El Camino" ST (the Holden VE Ute). They get a 6.0L 355HP/384ft lb torque engine with a 6-speed automatic that's got plenty of power to pull over ricers and will gulp the tax dollars every time they pull up to the pump. Don't get me wrong, it's an interesting ploy that's worth hundreds of thousands of bailout dollars to try (Hint: Ford didn't get any money and they're not trying this but good luck GM).The car looks like a beefed up Impala. In my opinion, it's only marginally worse looking than the super-futuristic RoboCopesque law enforcement only E7 from Carbon Motors. That said, I give Carbon Motors one bonus point for using a clean buring turbo diesel "from a major manufacturer" and integrating those flashing lights.
These purpose built cars all sound great on paper except when they break down there's a limited market for parts and when they reach the end of their life they're not going to be sold to the public. Oops. There goes end of life sales that are used to offset future purchases. Better raise taxes now!
