There's potentially good news for those suffering from severe peanut allergies. The short version is that doctors in Cambridge are working on a technique to 'retrain' the body's immune response to desensitize the effects of peanut allergies. Although they don't anticipate the treatment to become commonplace soon (and probably never approved by your HMO) of those treated, some can eat up to 12 peanuts a day. Keeping in mind that some of these people would have severe reactions for even one 400th of a peanut, this is good news. LINKY.
