So, Google announced it would no longer voluntarily filter results in China on it's google.cn site and people are already mourning. That's like saying "Homie Don't Play Dat" and smacking China with a sock. The Chinese government is keeping a straight face responding that the site must be operated in accordance with the law but do offer that they are working hard to encourage healthy expansion of the internet. Uh, huh? Regardless, Google noticed several instances of GMail hacking that appeared to be coming from Taiwan. After doing some hacking of it's own, they have a strong belief that the hacks originated from China. Although they argue a hack as organized as this can only be expected from a government agency, they have no hard proof. What is unfortunate is that despite the president O's commitment to reducing our country's cyber-vulnerabilities there have been no requests for investigation by China. In my opinion, maybe we should have saved back some of that financial sector bailout money and put it into buying some Apple Genius Bar or Geek Squad tech support. It would probably have had the same effect.
