In a brilliant move, a bunch of people who represent us (that's the house and senate) extended the DTV transition deadline from the original Feb 17th date to June 12th. This was in response to complaints that people don't take responsibility for crap people wait until the last second money from the federal converter incentive program ran out. This was signed into law and most TV stations promptly gave the bird saying that the move was too late and it would cause confusion and lots of cash to move things around. If anybody's been following the news lately, cash seems to be in short supply. Luckily, someone was smart enough to include a provision that allows TV stations to move forward if they are ready. So, now many stations are broadcasting exclusively in digital and the others will transition sometime between now and June 12th. Man, glad that decision was made. Sure makes it easy to help troubleshoot why someone's tv isn't working. Bet nobody's calling irritated that their tv stopped working "all of the sudden." Maybe this is part of the stimulus package. If everybody buys a $50 converter box we will save the banking and auto industries!!!
